It gives me great pleasure to see the AIChE NUS Student Chapter in its 2nd year running. When the Student Chapter was first formed in 2014, we had the aim of empowering our members, to enable them to have the best foundation to fulfill their careers in the chemical engineering industry. Over the last 2 years, NUS AIChE has organised various extra-curricular events, such as the Industry 7 Series – comprising industry visits and talks by key industry players, and Student Mentorship Programme.
This year saw the organisation of an Industrial Attachment (IA) program panel sharing, of which I was part of the panel. The sharing was a great opportunity for current undergraduates to understand first-hand about the IA program from seniors and alumni, especially when IA is now a compulsory part of the NUS Chemical Engineering curriculum.
I am also heartened to see increased collaboration between the AIChE NUS Student Chapter and our sister chapter in Purdue University, which led to being featured on AIChE’s Chenected Blog! Establishing connections with a sister chapter was a decision my committee had made in the early months of the NUS Student Chapter, and I am glad that it was a step in the right direction.
There is still much room for growth, and I wish the AIChE NUS Student Chapter the very best in their efforts to enhance and enrich the student experience in NUS Chemical Engineering!
